GERMANY #10 Direct Swap

The Monument to the Battle of the Nations is a monument in Leipzig, Germany, to the 1813 Battle of Leipzig, also known as the Battle of the Nations. Paid for mostly by donations and by the city of Leipzig, it was completed in 1913 for the 100th anniversary of the battle, at a cost of 6 million Goldmark. The monument commemorates Napoleon's defeat at Leipzig, a crucial step towards the end of hostilities in the War of the Sixth Coalition, which was seen as a victory for the German people, although Germany as we know it did not begin to exist until 1870. There were German speakers fighting on both sides, as Napoleon's troops also included conscripted Germans from the French-occupied left bank of the Rhine as well as from the Confederation of the Rhine.

Thanks Marco!

CANADA #1 & #2 Direct Swap

For a stamp collector, see these postcards is how to see a piece of heaven! The stamps from Canada are really incredible and so beautiful!

The Château Frontenac is a grand hotel in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, which is operated as Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1980. Prior to the building of the hotel, the site was occupied by the Chateau Haldimand, residence of the British colonial governors of Lower Canada and Quebec. The hotel is generally recognized as the most photographed hotel in the world, largely due to its prominence in the skyline of Quebec City.

Notre-Dame-des-Victoires is a small Roman Catholic stone church in the Lower Town of Quebec City. Construction was started in 1687 on site of Champlain's habitation and was completed in 1723. In 2002, the church served as a filming location for Catch Me If You Can, and again in 2004 for Taking Lives.

Thanks Diane!

HUNGARY #2 & #3 Direct Swap

This swap made me very happy, because I received a beautiful envelope, two amazing postcards, from one of my favorite cities and some stamps for my collection!

The Hungarian Parliament Building is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, one of Europe's oldest legislative buildings, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination of Budapest. It lies in Lajos Kossuth Square, on the bank of the Danube. It is currently the largest building in Hungary[1] and still the tallest building in Budapest.

The Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek. From the towers and the terrace a panoramic view exists of Danube, Margaret Island, Pest to the east and the Gellért Hill. The Bastion takes its name from the guild of fishermen that was responsible for defending this stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages. It is a viewing terrace, with many stairs and walking paths.

Thanks Kriana!

Envelope # 1

I received this envelope with protectors for stamps Lindner, bought together with friends in a forum about philately. Besides the content, the stamps are interesting, it celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Brazilian National Football Team.

The issue, composed of three stamps in setenant format, summarizes the successful trajectory of Brazilian Football National Team from its initial formation until today. The stamp on the left brings the photo of the first Brazilian National Team in their opening game in 1914. With  the Brazilian Flag on the background, the second stamp shows players in action, with the first uniform worn by national team and  the  goalkeeper uniform of the three-time champion of 1970. The third stamp highlights a player with the current uniform. Each stamp discloses the shields of the entities organizers of the Brazilian National Team throughout history: FBS - Brazilian Federation of Sports, CBD - Brazilian Sports Confederation, and the current CBF - Brazilian Football Confederation. The stamps sheet also shows, on the left side, the image of a player representing the first  squad  of  the  national team and the title of the issue. It was used computer graphics technique.
